HOWL GALLERY/TATTOO PRESENTS NEW TATTOO THEMED ART SHOW BY ANDY HOWL
OPENING RECEPTION AUGUST 5TH DURING FORT MYERS ART WALK
HOWL Gallery/Tattoo presents a new exhibit by co-owner Andy Howl, featuring original tattoo-inspired fine art pieces. The new mixed-media artwork includes themes used in tattoos that Andy does on a daily basis. Japanese myth, Day of the Dead imagery, and traditional Americana tattoo styles mix together in this new body of work. The series also showcases the artist’s technique from sketch to full color illustration.
Andy is a traditionally trained fine artist that began tattooing in 2002. He grew up around Lansing and Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1998 with a BFA in Sequential Art (visual storytelling). Andy tattoos in many styles, but gravitates towards full color stylized-realism and more traditional Japanese and comic book style work. Andy is also an accomplished painter and has shown in galleries from Detroit to Miami. A designer toy painted by Andy has been part of a touring art show since early 2010 in cities across the country, including Los Angeles, New York, and Portland.
Andy is co-owner of HOWL Gallery/Tattoo with his wife, Alainna. He co-chairs and is a founding member of the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk and is founder of the monthly Music Walk.
Opening reception will be held Friday, August 5th, in conjunction with the downtown Fort Myers Art Walk, from 6-10pm. Light refreshments provided. Free event, all ages welcome. The exhibit continues through the end of August.
