FINE ART MEETS CLASSIC CARS

HOWL GALLERY PRESENTS THE AUTOMOTIVE EXPRESSIONIST PAINTINGS OF DANIEL BROWN

HOWL Gallery/Tattoo presents a new show featuring the automotive-expressionist paintings of Daniel Brown. This exhibit will focus on a new group of classic car paintings based on photos of cars for sale on Craigslist. The cars range from beat up El Camino's and Camaro's to Buick's and 57 Chevy's.

Daniel exclusively paints classic cars in a loose expressionistic style. His work sells at galleries and to private collectors and car aficionados across the country . HOWL first hosted a solo show with Daniel in 2009 and sold many of his large scale works. In describing the art, Daniel states, “On the surface it seems so simple. Burnouts, horsepower, loud exhaust. These things make me happy. They always have.”

“I never would have thought that cars would be a viable subject for fine art. (At least that's not what I was told) So why paint them? Why glorify something that is man-made? Why would anyone replace their lighthouse with a Lincoln?”

“There are many reasons I decided that cars made sense for me. If someone asks me "why?", I usually will give them a simple answer. "I grew up around cars", "It gives me something to talk about", I never get tired of looking at cars". These are often easy answers to something that really isn't that simple. And although there are many more reasons for what I have chosen to do, just as important is that loud exhaust is still cool. Doing burn-outs makes me happy. Art needs passion.”

Opening Reception August 2nd, 2014, 7-11pm.

The show will be on display through August 30th.

Car collectors are encouraged to bring their show cars.

The artist will also be taking commissions through the gallery for car collectors seeking a custom painting.

Beer & wine will be available for purchase during the event at the new HOWL Gallery Bar.
