About the Work:
-------------------------------
Connectivity

The paintings and mechanical objects describe how things work, specifically the forces governing movement and structure. These two artists relate not in medium but in concept: connectivity. The struggle to create or pair down a machine to it’s bare essentials and still function, or the simplicity of a chance drip growing in organization. Crissy Penuel and Sky Stumpf have been loving, talking, living, building, working, and connecting together for 5 years.

Crissy Penuel’s paintings are filled with bright contrasting colors and repetitive geometry that is informed by gravitational forces and connectivity. She often uses thought experiments and ideas related to molecular science to inspire her process. She fascinated with representing physics using pattern and color to signify these concepts abstractly.

Sky Stumpf works as a motorcycle mechanic, his artwork shows beauty in functionality. Using reclaimed parts to connect and repurpose, he creates motorcycles that are handsome yet show restraint. His process is maniacal, working until three or four in the morning, he becomes obsessed and exceedingly selective with which parts he will use down to the style of the nuts and bolts. He is constantly refining and tuning his work.

Both artists live and work in the Fort Myers area.
